THE JIMMY LEWIS FOUNDATION

Pottery with a Purpose

The Jimmy Lewis Foundation was founded by Steven and Lucinda Eriksen in honor of their sons' (Trevor and Tyson's) friend Jimmy Lewis who died from Leukemia at the tender age of 17.

Jimmy is the son of Mayor Randy Lewis and his wife Melanie and was born with his twin sister Melinda in 1978.  Jimmy was mature beyond his years.  He was easygoing, funny, and had such a way with people.  Jimmy always was accepting and kind and everyone who knew him loved him.

His sense of humor become obvious as a child when he and his sister filled their time with activities like putting towels in the toilets and collecting katydids and selling them to the neighbors for 25 centes a piece.

Two of Jimmy's favorite things were fishing and golfing.  He and his dad loved watching the weekly program "Fishing in the West." He enjoyed lots of fishing with family and friends, and his trips took him everywhere from Alaska to Costa Rica. Jimmy's favorite place to golf was Pebble Beach in California.

Jimmy was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Leukemia when he was 11.  The following years were filled with lots of chemotherapy and two bone marrow transplants.  Jimmy passed away in July 1996.  With his family at his bedside, they spent the last few hours reminiscing about the wonderful times they shared.

Those who knew Jimmy were inspired by his ongoing courage and faith.  We loved him.

The Foundation carries Jimmy's name, but it is also dedicated to the Lewis Family for their strength, love and dedication they showed during this difficult time.  The Lewises continue to show these same attributes towards others and their community.

The funds Lucinda generates from the sales of her White Buffalo Pottery is the core funding for the foundation.  It has been used for projects such as the Davis County Women's Shelter, Bountiful Children's Hospital, music scholarships, and humanitarian projects in other countries.

Thanks to all who have bought white buffalo pottery over the years.  You truly are making a difference.
